About this website

The site is named after the nick-name of Frederick II Hohenstaufen, the Thirteenth Century Holy Roman Emperor and King of Sicily. Frederick II was labeled the Stupor Mundi, the wonder of the world, by contempories. He was so called for many reasons, but mainly because he was unlike many other medieval rulers. My aim with this website is to illustrate that the so called Middle Ages were not all grim pestilence or knights and castles. There was a lot going on, a lot of important developments were made that would have important consequences for us in today's world.
